The High Holidays of 5787 arrive at a pivotal moment for our Jewish community.

Since the Bondi tragedy and the challenges that have followed, many have looked to Hamerkaz not only as a place of prayer, but as a place of belonging, strength and hope.

Together, we have celebrated, comforted and supported one another. Rather than retreat, we have come together with resilience, faith and renewed pride in our Jewish identity.

As we look ahead to the New Year, we do so with hope and determination. Together, we will continue to strengthen Jewish life and build an even brighter tomorrow - as a community, and as a family: the Hamerkaz family.

חגי תשרי תשפ״ז מגיעים ברגע מכריע עבור הקהילה היהודית שלנו .

מאז האסון בבונדי והאתגרים שבאו בעקבותיו, רבים פנו אל ״המרכז שלנו״ לא רק כמקום תפילה, אלא כבית של שייכות, עוצמה ותקווה .

יחד חגגנו, ניחמנו ותמכנו זה בזה. במקום לסגת, התאחדנו מתוך חוסן, אמונה וגאווה מחודשת בזהותנו היהודית .

כאשר אנו מביטים אל השנה החדשה, אנו עושים זאת בתקווה ובנחישות. יחד נמשיך לחזק את החיים היהודיים ולבנות מחר בהיר וטוב יותר - כקהילה וכמשפחה: משפחת ״המרכז שלנו״ .

The two-day holiday of Rosh Hashanah is the head of the Jewish year, the time when G‑d reinvests Himself in creation as we crown Him king of the universe through prayer, shofar blasts, and celebration. A week later, the High Holidays reach their crescendo with Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement). Like angels, we neither eat nor drink for 25 hours. Dressed in white, we pray in the synagogue—united as one people, children of One Father.
